About Me

Hej! :) I'm a director of photography (well.. cameraman in fictional and documentary films) from Cologne, Germany..
I'm a rather calm, happy guy, living with my girlfriend and two older cats :) (10 & 13years, although they behave like it's just months)

I'm interested in a lot of things, like music (listening, a lot of concerts, playing a tiny bit of piano), reading, doing sports, languages (finished the Danish tree in duolingo, yeay ;) & I'd looove to speak Icelandic and Vietnamese), films and a lot of different arts – not sooo much of a complete film geek though, as I haven't always been making and freaking out about films, but found my way there through painting and photography.

Music, Movies, and Books

A lot of books, a lot of films (obviously), a wide range of music ;)
I call sigur rós my home in music, but I am also open to noise rock, different sorts of electronic, shoegaze, (post) black metal, classical, some pop, some rap, drone & doom, all sorts of sensitive or atmospheric music... – whatever inspires me!
The last books that really inspired me were "Atemschaukel" by Herta Müller, "Grapes of Wrath" & "Tortilla Flat" by John Steinbeck and "Magellan" by Stefan Zweig. Lindgren’s "Ronja" is my all time favourite ^-^
In films, I adore works of Lukas Moodysson, some Park Chan-Wooks, David Lynch, Anders Thomas Jensen – and many others. Just listing directors – so cliché ;/

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I made a documentary film ('i sleep in the river’s bed', 35min.) with a fellow student in a Vietnamese village, just understanding a few sentences of Vietnamese, our host just knowing very few sentences of English, too.
But we couldn't let that stop us from making a film and so we just kept trying to communicate and be nice. That way, we really earned their trust – more than usual tourists and more than if we'd had a translator with us. After a month in the village, all of us cried when we left. I really need to return, soon.
