À propos de moi

As many people here I would define myself as a passionate traveller, foodie and a bit of a nerd.

I've studied gastronomy, business administration and a bit of nutrition. I have also taken courses on Egyptology, languages, teaching, creative writing and drama. I'm super curious and I find almost everything fascinating - except perhaps cars and heavy metal, just not my things really.

I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina but I've got a strong Italian background on my mother's side and a very strong Spanish one on my father's side - this might sound very exotic, but it's not rare in Argentina. Influenced by these strong international elements at home I've always dreamed of seeing the world. I've moved to London alone when I was 24. That's when I decided to become a language teacher. My desired was to help people to communicate and through languages, understand different cultures, make friends from a variety of backgrounds and at the same time become better human beings.

I've been working in language schools for almost four years and since then I have had students from over 100 different countries and I've become friends with most of them. They usually finish their course feeling rewarded and so satisfied with their experience studying in London than they give me the greatest satisfaction.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

As I said I think of myself as very friendly, curious and adaptable person so it's only natural that travelling has become my main passion since I can remember. So far I have been to over 40 countries around the world. I've sometimes stayed with friends I've made, sometimes in hostels and in very rare occasions in hotels. Naturally, my accommodation has greatly influenced my experience in the countries I've visited. I've never dared to do couchsurfing because as my house in London is not very welcoming I didn't want to ask things from people I wasn't able to repay. However, I've decided that I'd do my best to provide a great experience while visiting the British capital with what I've got.
Besides, my eagerness to experience other cultures as closely as possible has encouraged me to give this a try!

I'm basically a solo traveller with a project. I want to record the experience, advice and smiles from people around the world. I want to ask questions, share a meal (I'm a good cook) and a good long chat about different points of views and traditions...so would you be part of it? :)

Centres d'intérêt

Food and drinks (not a great alcohol-drinker, two pints and I'll pass out!)
Languages (I speak nearly four myself and I'm qualified to teach two of them)
Art (drama, cinema, painting, sculpture, architecture, fashion, dance, music)
History (ancient and modern)
Literature (I love books, fact or fiction I read them all. Tolstoy, Shakespeare, Yourcenar and Murakami are my favourites)
Outdoors (long walks, camping, sailing)
Science (Although not very good at maths I find chemistry, astronomy and biology absolutely fascinating)

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

I basically like all kinds of music. I think it depends on the mood I am at the moment but I would say the genre I most listen to is pop from around the world. Having said that, I must say my top one is jazz.
I just don't like heavy metal and tango (I know, what an appalling Argentine I am, right?)

My list of movies would be: Kill Bill vol. 1, Pulp Fiction, The Lord of the Rings, The Shawshank Redemption, Who's afraid of Virginia Wolf?, Spirited Away, Fight Club, Indiana Jones and the last crusade, Clockwork Orange, Aladdin, Atonement, Amelie, Cinema Paradiso, El secreto de sus ojos, The Hours, Malena, Irreversible, the list goes on...

My books: Anna Karenina (L. Tolstoy), Opus Nigrum (M. Yourcenar), Colourless Tsukuru (H. Murakami), Pygmalion (G.B. Shaw), A Midsummer Night's Dream (W. Shakespeare), Orlando (V. Wolf), Habibi (C. Thompson), Arabian Nights (An.)

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

Well I don't want to be as big-headed as to say that I've done lots of amazing stuff but I do believe I have experienced quite a few really cool things. Apart from changing my career path completely while living on my own in an absolutely strange city in order to feel rewarded with my life, I've also done:

Paragliding in the coast of Turkey.
Crossed the Atlas mountains and slept in the Sahara desert.
Parachuting in Argentina.
Came down the Great Chinese Wall on a slide.
Ate scorpions in Bangkok and two massive pizzas in Naples (not sure how amazing is that)

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

I think I can show you how cook some cool recipes I've learned and obviously help you out if you're trying to learn either English or Spanish.

I'd love to learn as much as I can from other traditions, changes cultures are experiencing around the world and naturally the best local culinary secrets!!

If you're a passionate nomad, I'd love to share some travelling experiences.

Ce que j'aimerais partager avec mes hôtes

I think the section above summarises it pretty well.
I'm quite sociable so I'm open to good chats and long walks across markets.
