About Me

ABOUT ME

Calm at the first glance, funky by looking closer ;-) , rarely moody, I can be profound but mostly I'm curious, joking or simply friendly. I do have a slight tendency towards sarcasm ... ;-)

PHILOSOPHY

Always remain curious, try out new things, be interested in other people ideas/thoughts/perspectives, listen, think, don't miss beauty in life - stop and enjoy, put yourself out of your comfort zone regularly in order to work on your persona, learn new things, don't look back in anger

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far I just surfed couches.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surfed a couch in Panama City and I enjoyed it a lot. I'd be happy to get hosted again.

Interests

I love music and I'm busily collecting and discovering it. There are genres where I feel more connected to then others but basically I'm interested in absolute everything.

I love being outdoor surrounded by wild nature. Over the years this love continues to deepen. I've experienced intense moments being alone in the wild and I'm looking forward to experience more of these.
Although I basically like all sites of nature on planet earth I'm particularly attracted to mountains and the sea. A fair amount of my time I spent exploring, hiking, climbing, back country snowboarding and mountain biking them.

For many years I have been a die hard technician and very interested in astronomy and physics. I'm still a tech/science nerd, but my interests started to shift towards social an cultural things in life.

I'm very interested in politics, and I do support altruistic non governmental organisations.

I like street arts and photography, I'm also interested in youth culture and subculture. A polish girl that stayed in our flat share raised the interest of contemporary dance in me (she was a dancer herself).

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies - I do go watching movies regularly but many of them leave me unimpressed so this will be a short list:
"Bock for president", "In the mood for love", "2046", "Hero", "Suzhou River", "Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amelie Poulain", "Un coeur en hiver", "Die Innere Sicherheit", "Trois couleurs: Bleu", "Leon", "Idioten", "Razor"

Books - I should read more, but as with movies many books bore me. I do have an affection to "political" books:
"Animal Farm" (Orwell), "Brave new world" (Huxley), "1984" (Orwell), "Toxic sludge is good for you", "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" (Adams), "Fiasco" (Lem), "Der Prozess" (Kafka), "Golem XIV" (Lem), "The Cathedral and the Bazaar" (Raymond), "Schachnovelle" (Zweig), "Schuld und Suehne" (Dostojewski)

Music: I know quite a lot of European and American Music as well as some classical music. I also know a little bit of latino music (reggaeton, dancehall, cumbia)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sitting on top of volcano Santa Maria in Guatemala and watching the sunrise.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teaching:

All things related with computers: programming, administration or also assembling/repairing the hardware. On the other hand, I spent so much time with this stuff, it kinda sucks. You have to catch me on a very motivated day.

Explaining some tech/physics stuff, I think I'm good at explaining things.

Fix things that are broken. I do this all the time so I'm quite experienced and skilled in this.

Carpentry, I'm doing this as a hobby since I can think of and though I'm not trained in it I collected a lot of experience over the years and I'm pretty good at it.

Mechanical engineering, I have a degree in this.

English in some limited way.

Things I like to learn:

Languages, especially Spanish and French.

Music, really everything about it. History, theory or how to play a piano.

Art, especially street art. Everything about it.

Photography, especially street photography.

Countries I’ve Visited

Cambodia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cuba, El Salvador, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, Italy, Jamaica, Myanmar, Nicaragua, Panama, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Austria
