About Me

I am a 22 years old girl born and raised in Lisbon, Portugal. After I finished high school, at 17, I moved on my own to Edinburgh, Scotland, to start university studying International Hospitality & Tourism Management. For my second year, I had to get an internship during the second semester, so I decided to go to France and was lucky enough to work in a 4 star hotel (Hotel New York) in Disneyland Paris, where I had the time of my life! For the second semester of my third year, I decided to do an exchange program, that gave me the opportunity to study in St. Catharines, a town close to the Niagara Falls, in Canada. After graduating in the spring of 2017, I had the chance of going on a J1 visa to the USA, where I spent 6 months working in Florida and where I currently am in North Dakota! It's been a great experience!

As you can see, although I am quite young, I love to travel and meet new people all over the world, and I take every opportunity I can get to do so.

I also love learning new languages, being fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, French and English. I am currently learning Italian which is going quite well, and I have a basic level of Mandarin (Chinese) that I want to carry on studying. Apart from that I know bits of Dutch and Greek, and would love to be taught more!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I joined couchsurfing because my brother used it a lot in his years after university, so I had the pleasure of hosting people in my house during the summer. After 6 years, I am still in contact with the people I met, and that is the experience that I want to have, now that it's my turn traveling the world.

I love the concept of couchsurfing and I think it's a great way of not only meeting new people but being able to understand their culture and share yours, mainly if you live in a different continent.

Interests

I'd say that for the purpose of couchsurfing, my main interests are my love of traveling, meeting new people and learning new languages.

Music, Movies, and Books

2016 answer: I don't really have a favourite type of music, but after spending one semester in Canada, I think I'm done with Country... sorry! haha x
2018: I've been spending the last 4 months of my life in a small town in North Dakota... bring on the country and bluegrass music!

I hate horror movies. Apart from that, I like any type of movie that isn't too dumb because I just don't have patience for it, but I appreciate both time-passing romantic dramas, thrilling action movies (superheros lately with all of these movies coming out) and the good old comedies as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I left everything I knew in Europe at the age of 20 to study in Canada for one semester. I think that is quite amazing... and standing on the glass floor of Toronto's CN Tower, being extremelly afraid of heights!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach anything I know, and hope to learn anything I can.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share great experiences I've had so far, their passion for meeting new people and learning about new cultures.
