About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To have a pleasant day!
ABOUT ME
Meeting new people is to get new experiences, it is in itself like a trip to another place. And its likely as good as any trip might be. I occasionally make the odd trip to some foreign country so having friends in odd countries is always good :)
I tend to get familiar with the country I want to visit beforehand, through reading and news.
PHILOSOPHY
I believe in the good in people rather than any particular religion.
If you really want to learn something there is no stopping you.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'd gladly host both couples, families and loners! Being a loner these days, I very much look forward to the company.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've been inactive for a couple of years, but I'm back in service. Feels good! We had some visitors a couple of years back and it was good fun. Now we're stocking up on couch space and hoping for new visitors!
Interests
Outdoor life, travel by any means - though trying to live greener means flying around the globe is not an option.
Sailing, building things, cooking, languages, birds, earth works (construction), reading, modern history, Middle east, politics, national economy et c.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: Mostly crime and fantasy novels (I'm quite picky) but also modern history books. Favourite authors right now: Bernard Cornwell, Haruki Murakami & Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
Music: Death metal, Folk music, classical (Baroque period) and singer/songwriter goes. Spontaneous live acoustic performances are greatly appreciated :)
(there's a guitar and a piano in the house.)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I had the opportunity to sit for a whole day with a group of women in Syria as they had their Friday picknick in the ruins of Halabiyah, and though my language skills were limiting conversation, their hospitality and warmth was doing the job nicely. They all have a room in my heart now. Hopefully they're still around somewhere.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach basic cooking.
I want to learn how to play violin, and to say a few words in a foreign language.
Countries I’ve Visited
Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Faroe Islands, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Lebanon, Netherlands, Norway, Syrian Arab Republic, Turkey, United Kingdom
Countries I’ve Lived In
