About Me
Hi, I'm Matt – a young, polite, and ambitious solo traveller with a passion to see the world at my own pace. Right now I'm currently off on the trip of a lifetime (so far!) four 4 months to see all that Europe has to offer.
Please note, I'm only not accepting guests because I still live with my parents and therefore can't really offer anything on their behalf
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
If ever I need a place to stay while traversing Europe I hope that I can find one on here! Not only is the accommodation a factor but I also love meeting new people and learning about their cultures and lifestle.
Interests
I have always loved sport and will pretty much watch anything competitive (from soccer and Aussie Rules right down to lawn bowls and... curling?!)
I also have an interest in writing/journalism which stems from it being my part-time job for many years during high school, so I can definitely appreciate great literature.
Of course I love nothing more than being able to spend time with the people who mean the most to me – my family and close friends – but I hope that through Couchsurfing I may be able to add a few more friends to that list

Music, Movies, and Books
I never know where to start with music because the list could go on forever! I guess that is another big passion of mine – I already have a festival locked in during my Europe trip which I'm eager for. My tastes generally lie around the indie rock and hip hop genres, but I'm also partial to electronica and folk.
Here's a non-extensive list of artists I'm into, see if you have any in common:
Arctic Monkeys; The Strokes; Bloc Party (not really their current iteration though); Blur; Kanye West; Los Campesinos!; The Kooks; Everything Everything; Ball Park Music; Jamie T; The Killers; Foals; Metronomy; Kendrick Lamar; The Smiths; Darwin Deez; 2Pac; Hungry Kids of Hungary; Jai Paul
As for movies, I generally enjoy light-hearted comedies; to be honest I don't watch too many of them as I sometimes get bored halfway through.
I love a good autobiography for books
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
It is ridiculously hard to nail this down to one thing – I assume most people might say marriage or children or saving someone's life.... I don't want to be cliche and mention past travel experiences though, because as amazing as they were (trips to Fiji and the US with family) they weren't exactly anything out of the normal tourist route. The freedom of going solo allows me to see a bit more of what I'd like to see rather than having to make sure everyone is satisfied.
Going to 'Camp Gallipoli' last year and attending a dawn service on the 100th anniversary of when Australia's troops arrived on the beaches for World War I was pretty special.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd love to teach a few people about Australian Rules Football. If you've never heard of it then you're missing out – it's one of the fastest paced sports in the world played by athletes with amazing endurance, who kick, handpass and catch an oval ball all while trying to avoid being tackled in the pursuit of scoring as many goals as possible. I'm a Collingwood fan, so it'd be awesome to introduce a few more people to the Black and White Army
