About Me

I'm a 36 year old Army vet and aspiring restaurateur, and I've never lived alone for longer than a few months. I'm easygoing, clean, and it's my ultimate intention never to impose on anyone, ever.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've recently ended a long-term relationship and I'm looking to start fresh in the Virgin Islands. I'd like to network with local residents and enlist your help with my assimilation to life in the USVI. I want to explore and meet new people, share great food and fun experiences.

Interests

Sandwiches are my passion. I like replacing iconic bread and meat fare with gourmet ingredients in flavorful combinations.
I like making functional art with detailed woodworking and practical engineering. I'm learning to play guitar and I want to learn to surf. I'm looking forward to meeting new people and adapting to a new culture on island time.

Music, Movies, and Books

I really love mellow music and tunes with a solid bass line, but I don't really dislike anything. Superstition by Stevie Wonder and Thank You by Led Zeppelin are two of my all-time favorite songs. I like Indie movies, but I'm trying to avoid anything with a screen for a while. Currently reading Gulp by Mary Roach, but I tend to gravitate toward fiction, business sustainability guides, and I'm trying to read some classics.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent three months of my year in Iraq training Kurdish soldiers and living in their midst. It created a really natural environment in a very unnatural place. Though I can't pinpoint my favorite moment, our sunset soccer games were the closest I felt to normalcy over my entire tour.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm really great with numbers, flavors, and my favorite hobby is woodworking. I want to learn everything I can about everything I can.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a great cook, though weak in training and speed. I'd love to prepare meals for my host(s) and I'm especially adept at dinner party fare. I'm alright at housekeeping and any labor you require is fair game, though I need a few free hours per day to look for permanent employment and housing. I'd be happy to dedicate 6 hours every day as a handyman.

Countries I’ve Visited

Afghanistan, Canada, Germany, Iraq, Italy, Kuwait, Mexico, Qatar

Countries I’ve Lived In
