About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Mission? To experience a couch on every continent, to sleep on an outdoor couch in Zambia, to have an ugly couch party in Brisbane, to carry a couch into the Amazon and host. I plan to make traveling my oxygen someday.

ABOUT ME

Spontaneous. Adventurous. Carpe the day. I'm easy going and like hanging around other people who are too. If you're the type of person who plans out every detail to every day, then I will most likely avoid the plan just for the joy of doing something random instead.

I want to go everywhere. One excursion at a time. I enjoy new people, new cultures, new ways to do things. Complacency and routine are what I want to avoid, but I have a lot of work to do getting to that happy place.

Someday I hope to incorporate baseball, basketball, and frisbee into a downhill snowboarding event. Okay.

PHILOSOPHY

Don't take yourself too seriously. You're not any better than anyone else. But that's no excuse to be a lazy bum. You want things in life? Work hard for it and go get it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I first heard of couchsurfing about 6 years ago, but haven't taken part in it yet. Looking to do a lot more serious traveling from here on out.

Interests

Over the last five years my job as a steel mill supervisor consumed the vast majority of my time, so I have learned to make the most of every spare moment of free time I have. I love to travel and play sports, my dream is to someday incorporate the two and somehow make enough money to travel the world. That's a work in progress...but in the meantime I try to travel as much as possible and see the world.

Recently I voluntarily left my job behind to travel full time. My girlfriend and I have made our way around Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Scotland, Spain, Italy, and the western US over the last 6 months. As amazing as full time travel is, the necessity of making a living does like to read its ugly head and it's time to start looking for work again. Right now I'm looking for a new start, both in job and location. Couchsurfing seems like a perfect way to meet some locals and hear what makes your part of the world worth living in.

Music, Movies, and Books

Good fiction, but not too radical. Michael Crichton is my favorite author.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Went to a tiny village high in the Swiss Alps with no place to stay. Ended up spending the night with a Swiss family in their house in the middle of nowhere.

Teach, Learn, Share

Irish music quells a lot of arguments. Arm yourself with a portable speaker and some Dubliners music and you can't go wrong.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Canada, Costa Rica, England, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Kenya, Mexico, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Panama, Puerto Rico, Scotland, Spain, Switzerland, Uganda, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
