Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I always want to see the different cultures of a place. I want to see them as a local would. The local tourist sights? Maybe. But I want to go beyond the guide books and to see what makes a place truly unique. Couchsurfing, and the brilliant people that participate make that possible.

Music, Movies, and Books

Like good music across virtually all genres. From a Bach concerto, to Whitesnake in the 80s, musicals, jazz, blues and rock.

Generally read a mix of sci-fi, thrillers, history, modern political science, economics, biographies and whatever else takes my interest.
Recently read:
Leviathan Wakes
Napoleon: A Life
A Modern History of Iran
Tripwire

John Wick is of course great. But love a film which has good writing above all. Quentin Tarantino films are great. Some greats off the top of my head:
7 Psychopaths
In Bruges
V for Vendetta
Jack Reacher
Starship Troopers (guilty pleasure)
In The Lives of Others
28 Days Later
Baby Driver
Last Action Hero

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While I have been to amazing sights such as Jungfrau or The Kancamagus Trail, I have mostly enjoyed seeing local human events which have been priceless.

1. A pastry chef chasing a laughing man in Paris with a bundle of baguettes under his arm.
2. Having an in depth and lengthy conversation with a man who claims to be the second coming of Christ. He also used a time machine to prevent the Mayan Catastrophe in 2012. He knows that we are all welcome of course.
3. Hearing a guy complain on the NYC Subway that Jerry Seinfeld was an ass to him. Only for his friend to tell him to shut the hell up. He loved Bee Movie.
