Overview
About Me
I'm a philosophy student from New Zealand taking a break before my PhD to backpack across Iran and Europe. My foolhardy ambition is to become an academic, but I think it's really important to see the world and get some perspective outside the university. I also just like to experience different ways of living, eat unfamiliar foods, and meet awesome people. This is my third major trip - I've spent some time in Europe before, and I've done conservation work in Belize.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm looking to make friends and experience different cultures up close.
Interests
Philosophy is my main interest, and I like history and psychology as well. I'm learning Persian. I also have a bunch of non-academic interests: I love art (dada), cooking (Asian), and music (goth rock). I play chess and aikido, but badly. I very much like cats.

Music, Movies, and Books
Musicwise I can dig something from most genres, but my favourite stuff is goth rock and post-punk (sisters of mercy, bauhaus, joy division etc) and other kinds of rock. I also like arty films and heavy literature. Kafka and Dostoevsky, stuff like that.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Backpacking solo across Iran for three months, camping under desert moons, and learning Persian. Those were the days.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have teaching experience in philosophy, if you're interested. It's not as boring or abstract as people think. I love to cook and would be very pleased to make something for you.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can cook for you, share some stories and some philosophy.
