About Me

I recently went back to school to get my second degree so I could start a second life as a nurse. Gradually I came to see nursing not as just a career change but a true calling. That being said, I have been told I am a kind, thoughtful, and considerate person. Traveling abroad has been a dream of mine since I was in high school but one that I was unable to fulfill until I went with a group of nursing students to Guatemala to learn about their culture, healthcare system, and language. I did not want to leave! Europe was my second trip abroad and first solo adventure :). I was a bit trepidatious but it was a special time in my life when I had the time and ability to experience a continent so rich in its history and culture, before beginning my new position in August.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I was in Guatemala over spring break, the nursing school arranged housestays for us. It made me feel like more of a local and less of a tourist. I am thinking couchsurfing must be even better. I look forward to meeting new people in a totally alien environment.

Interests

Obviously, traveling. I love animals, especially dogs but I recently adopted a very odd but lovable cat named Arthur. I love beautiful wonders, whether they be art, architecture, or cultural traditions.

Music, Movies, and Books

Reading is a very old hobby of mine and is probably the greatest inspiration for traveling. I enjoy literary classics, especially Dickens and Austen, as well as historical fiction and mystery. Robert Crais, Bernard Cornwell, and Lindsey Davis and Ellis Peters are some of my favorite contemporary authors.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While exploring veterinary medicine as a possible profession when I first graduated in 2008, I lassoed a zebra during my ridealongs with a country vet.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share thoughtful conversation. I also have a few go to recipes for dinner.
