About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See where the wind takes me...

ABOUT ME

I aim to bring out the best in myself and others, an elusive target that's always shifting because anyone worth knowing is always growing.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm actually dorky enough to have a mission statement :).

This is how it starts:

I am the genesis of a hero, a creator, a monk, and child. I aim to journey on, create, experience and play with life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm pretty new to this whole couch surfing business. I would love to host people (as long as they're comfortable sleeping on a futon), and I am interested in surfing on other's couches as well.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have some friends who are surfers, and have met some surfers as they were staying at those friends places... however, I have never hosted or surfed myself.

Interests

Getting lost, adventures, balloons, swimming, deep conversations, dorks, being scared and doing it anyway, lasertag, kids, reading, ticklefights, music, meeting new people, making things that change people's lives.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Lucky Number Slevin, Jiro Dreams of Sushi, Fight Club, Dogville, Brick, Lars and the Real Girl, Stardust.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was in City Year, I had my 4th graders write journal entries to let me know what was going on in their lives.

One of them had just had her father get 5 years jail time for assaulting her mother.

She was crying, but didn't want to talk, so I told her that she could write in her journal.

This is what she said.

"Dear Mr G. I really like your new haircut. I know some of the other kids say bad things, but I think it is cute. My mother taught me to always do what you like, no matter what other people think, so I think you should be proud of that new haircut".

I am always amazed that even when dealing with things that most adults couldn't handle... a child is the best teacher.
