ABOUT ME
I am the sum of my experiences and interests. I love reading and writing, art, travel, learning and meeting new people. I love forming and developing relationships. I love spending time by myself as much as I do with others. I find it important to think about life as well as to talk about life and the issues and experiences that we encounter as well as those that exist in the world. Couch surfing seems to offer the possibility for all of these things in a network of people who care about similar things. What a possibility! There is a trust in relationships that I worry does not exist in all people and yet this opportunity reassures me that people care and people trust and together, they want to experience life.
PHILOSOPHY
My personal philosophy is inextricably intertwined with my interests and my description of about myself. The things I do and the person I am becoming is the result of my personal philosophy now and those that have previously been mine. As for this moment in time, my philosophy is to honestly live each moment of my life in such a way that I am either working towards personal fulfillment or working towards something greater than myself. I want to find who I am and what my place is in the grand scheme of things. I believe there must be a healthy combination of both interpersonal relationships as well as an intrapersonal relationship. One must constantly reflect and ask questions. We must examine where we are, why we are here and what those with differing opinions believe. It is through understanding a wider range of things that we can better understand what we believe and, if need be, how to change what we accept as the truth. If I never challenge myself to think outside of the box or to expose myself to differing opinions (and those who believe them), I will be nothing better than (although it is slightly harsh) an uneducated bigot who don't respect his own beliefs enough to test them. I learn most about myself from those who are most like me and most unlike me. Both play a vital role and so the more I can experience, the more I can figure out who I am.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Just joined and looking to travel the country. I don't have a couch to offer but once I do will be more than happy to share it for the CS world.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
As of now, I have none, but every journey, every process has a beginning and this is mine. I am excited to see where this takes me and where I might be able to help people go.
Interests
I love committing myself to new experiences. I find satisfaction in challenging myself, learning new things and the growing that accompany both of these. I reflect in writing, word and art. I enjoy doing things for myself and for others. I try to be consciously aware that, in each moment of each day, I am living (as Thoreau wrote) deliberately. I find contentment in slowing down, simplifying the constantly complicated nature of things around me and striving to live in the now. Life goes too fast and there is too much to appreciate that is too easy to pass over in the hustle and bustle of things. I am interested in finding the right way for me to live and whatever might come with that realization.

Music, Movies, and Books
This would literally take forever. All three play a vital role in my life.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
As a fourteen year old, I was on vacation with my family in Hawaii. At one point in the vacation, I found myself face to face with a fifty foot waterfall. I had always been obedient and safe as a child and I felt like I needed to try something dangerous. Without knowing the depth of the waterfall or thinking about the potential injuries I could have sustained, I informed my parents I was going to go jump off it. I got to the top and without a second though jumped. It was both exhilarating and necessary for me and my development. I desire more experiences like that.
