About Me

ABOUT ME

I was born in California. I´m half-white, half-Asian, and grew up in a mostly Asian household. When I was 7, my family moved to Taiwan for 4 years, then I came back to California (which is when the culture shock of PUBERTY IN AMERICA hit me bad). I graduated from UC-Santa Cruz, where I studied philosophy and theater.

Now I'm a film editor living/working in Los Angeles.

PHILOSOPHY

I also think that our understanding of the world is through stories--stories that we tell ourselves to make sense out of what we've experienced, and I try to seek out many experiences so that I may be better informed as I invent, for myself, the story of how the world works. This is also part of why I love to listen to other people's stories and ideas.

I'm more interested in being interested than being right.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted several people in Brighton, England, back when I lived there. I look to stay with others when I´m traveling. I try to be open and conversational while hosting or staying with others because sharing ideas and experiences is what I really enjoy about CouchSurfing.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My flatmates and friends in England have also hosted people, so our flat frequently had CouchSurfers coming and going. I've hosted several people and have stayed with a few people during my travels. It's all been great!

I've done a 6-week tour through the UK and Norway, Sweden, Berlin, and Bologna, followed by a 10-week road trip through the U.S. I had a great time and met some great people along the way! Couldn't have done it without CouchSurfing!

Interests

Art: I make films, write and play music, write, and draw. I'm interested on a philosophical level as to what our art reveals about us as human beings in this world, but I try not to over-analyze because I don't want my work to be too studied. I would love to expand the ways in which I can express myself, as well, and I am looking to learn more skills.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to the Cannes Film Festival with a short film of mine, and that was quite the amazing and unique experience.

I busked outside of the Louvre in Paris with my friend. We took turns playing guitar and singing.

Half a year of traveling around Europe and the U.S. I met amazing people every day, and created memories that will be with me for as long as I live. It would not have been as great as it was if not for CouchSurfing.

Teach, Learn, Share

Filmmaking stuff...? I can teach that.

I'd like to learn anything from anyone. I like to listen and observe. I like to hear what people have to say.
