Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
While hosting, to entertain and to show off our beautiful city; while surfing, to see beautiful cities; while meeting amazing people all along the way!
ABOUT ME
We're fun loving, well traveled and looking forward to meeting lots of surfers and hosts!
We'll get more into this over a glass (or bottle) of wine or bottle (or case) of beer when we see you!
PHILOSOPHY
"Traveller, there is no path. The path is made by walking."
"The mind is like a parachute, it works best when opened."
The above are not our own quotes, but go well with what we believe is important in life... we have walked across Spain; driven from Lisbon, to Istanbul, to Paris, to Krakow, and then to Munich without much of a plan, just enjoying the road and the many stops in between; and are continuously planning the next escape from our daily grind. Never assume anything, and always appreciate the unknown.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Thus far: we have enjoyed out time playing host. We look forward to continue hosting, and also to get back on the road and try some surfing ourselves.
Interests
Matt: Making beer, making food and making photos.
Alanna: Fashion, festivals and being a part of the Arts.
One of the strongest things that we have in common is we both love entertaining. We have a long history of throwing some pretty great parties, dinners and get togethers - and have a knack for being able round up a crowd on what at first may seem like a pretty quiet night. We have a diverse and wonderful group of friends and family who help make this possible.

In 2009 we were living in a city in northern Alberta, Fort McMurray, making lots of money with very good jobs. Then one day we decided to quit, take the cash we had saved, and travel Europe for a year - easily the best decision we ever made. Most people reading this will probably understand why... but that is because you're a couch surfer/host and understand the amazing benefit of travelling and meeting new people. When we told our friends and coworkers that were were leaving our "comfortable" lifestyle, a lot of them could not understand why. What more do you need in life than a good steady job making good steady income?
There's a fear in some people that keep them close to what they know is easy. By taking a chance every once in a while - buying a plane ticket to a foreign country, filling up the gas tank and driving in a new direction, sticking out your thumb and seeing where it takes you - you will discover a world that is so unbelievably welcoming.
Always be safe and smart, but get out there and meet people and see something you've never seen before.
