Overview
About Me
I live in Fairlie, which is about 30 minutes drive from Tekapo and 45 minutes drive from Timaru.
I live on a couple of acres, with a couple of cattle and a vegetable garden. I enjoy good conversation over a quiet beer or two, and love things that make me think.
I work from home, as a computer programmer (mainly working on websites). In the weekends I often go hunting. I often have a freezer full of wild game.
(I work in Auckland every second month.)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I couch-surfed some in Scandinavia, and kinda tagged along a bit when my friend Kat was hosting in New Zealand.
I've had great experiences, and now I can host surfers myself. I have hosted here quite a few times now, and it's always fun meeting new people and learning about their travels.
Interests
Things geeky (I am a programmer both by vocation and interest), things philosophical, technical, literary, beautiful, or any combination of.
I particularly enjoy conversations about films, or questions of philosophy and human nature. The trickier the better.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love interesting artsy films, especially slow beautiful ones.
Music: Sigur Ros, Wilco, Fleet Foxes, Iron & Wine, Nine Inch Nails, Yeasayer, Queens of the Stone Age, Broken Social Scene.
I really like thoughtful scifi that's more about people than technology. "Ancillary Justice" is a pretty great book I read recently.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I travelled all the way across humanity's only planet in less than 30 hours, and then I felt claustrophobic.
Teach, Learn, Share
If you want random facts from the Internet I am your guy. Or fundamental flaws in Christianity. My theology degree is useful for something.
