About Me
Hi folks and welcome to my profile!
I am Matteo, currently 29 and I come from the lovely Italy. After 8 months spent wandering throughout South East-Asia, I have moved to live in Brussels, the European capital of Belgium. I am currently working as a bar staff in a lovely Italian Cafe but looking towards finding some more "institutional" position.
As far as my education is concerned, I own a Master's degree in International Security and International Law earned in the tiny town Odense, in Denmark. After my first year in the North of Europe, I moved to Cluj-Napoca, Romania, where I interned for a peacebuilding NGO and wrote my Master thesis.
Spending time abroad and meeting new cultures have always amused me, and that is why during my bachelor, I spent 10 months studying in Madrid as an Erasmus student and 8 months in Buenos Aires taking my first year of the bachelor in Diplomatic Affairs at the Argentinian branch of the University of Bologna.
.
I DO (!!!!) love traveling and I carried on these particular studies in order to find a job that could allow me to see the world (and to change it a little bit in positive!).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because I think it offers a perfect experience to travelers without big resources at their disposal.
Couchsurfing is based on the kindness and the 'open' spirit of travelers or just people that want to share their experiences or offer a shelter to whoever needs it.
With a couchsurfing experience we do not just share the same house but we share stories and feelings ,and one can fully 'dive in' the culture of the other.
Interests
As an open minded individual, I am very curious about many things and I adore getting deeper into different topics and themes.
My main interests consist in playing and watching football (I play Sorare, an online fantasy football game based on NFTs), listening music and watching movies (and TV series, so bad). I love alternative rock music but in general my tastes are pretty various and I do know how to appreciate every kind of music.
About movies? Well, I prefer horror, historic and thriller movies (I DO adore mindfuck movies) , but here my tastes are various as well. One of my favorite movies is "The Lord of the Ring". Besides, I am a great fan of the movies by Christopher Nolan, as well.I have also to admit that I'm kind of addicted to Tv series, and I have seen so many!
As my studies suggest , I am also passionate to history (ancient or contemporary) and international politics.

Music, Movies, and Books
My philosophy about music is that every kind of music has its own 'moment', where it suits perfectly with the whole situation. For this reason I really like different and various types of music, bands and singers.
In general, my favorite music band (from my adolescence) is Blink-182. But I love and listen every day also other artists like Linkin Park (RIP Chester), the XX, Of monsters and men, Kodaline, Oasis, Dub-FX, A day to remember, Sum 41, Red hot chilly peppers, Eminem, Munford and sons, Alt-J, The Lumineers, Radical Face, 21 pilots and many more, by different types of music (indie, alternative rock, rap, pop-punk, hip-hop, reggae).
My best singer is Caparezza, an Italian singer, and I do listen A LOT of Italian hip hop, rap or indie music.
My favorite song has always been ' I'm Yours ' by Jason Mraz, a theme that really inspires my travels, sharing ideals and guiding experiences.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I believe that each single thing you have done feeling a beat of happiness it is an amazing thing, we do not live only for great events, but happiness must be sought on the smallest things as well.
Probably the most exciting experience I have ever had in my life (up to now) it has been the exploration of the esoteric 'ciudadela' of Machu Picchu (Peru), while I backpacked for a while in South America in 2015.
Another marvelous experience I lived was riding camels during sunset/sunrise spending the night in the Sahara desert (Morocco), in 2017.
I also took part to a volunteer workcamp in the Balkans where we cycled from the north to the south of Kosovo; it has been a really inspiring experience. On the same page, I lived in closed contact with Syrian refugees in 2018, helping them in a refugees camp at the border with Lebanon.
Once we drove by car from Bologna, Italy all the way to Istanbul. Another crazy time, we went by car to England to celebrate the victory of the Premier League in 2015 from Leicester
I swam with sea turtles in the Indonesian Sea once, and another time I had the pleasure to swim with shark whales, these experiences were just incredible!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can share my bygones and my experiences while I'd like to learn from the ones and from the interests of others (I am a good chatter) . I think that life is a continuous learning journey and everybody has a story to tell.
I do know how to cook well some classical Italian dishes, you just need to ask
What I Can Share with Hosts
Regarding the fact of not hosting people, at the moment I am still living in a situation that does not allow me to offer space to CSs, but in the future it is a thing I do want to set up with a larger house and some independence.
Anyway, to the hosts that will kindly offer me a place where to sleep, I can offer a really good while. I can offer many stories and many topics to talk about (as I said I'm a good a chatter), in front of a nice pint of beer if you want. I'm also a good cook, so I can surely prepare to you some tasty Italian recipes.
I like to define myself as a really 'versatile' and curious person, hence whichever are your interests, I am sure we can get along very well!
