About Me
Neurobiologist by day, Negroni hunter by night, mountains and volcano lover in the meanwhile.
Sicilian who moved to Munich to study the brain after spending 7 years in Milan. When I am not in the lab, you would probably find me cooking something, running or trying to climb every peak of the Bavarian Alps.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
When travelling, I like to engage with the local spirit and there is nothing like mingling with locals to do so. This means that I try to bring home at least a bunch of local words, a local recipe and new friends.
I have been on CS since forever, finally gave it a try in September 2023, loved it and now... craving for more couched to surf and to share!
I hunt the unique perspective that one get by interacting with local people. Ideally, I would come back from any trips with a bunch of stories, facts and places (and recipe!) that are not mentioned in any Lonely Planet. I try to do the same when it is about the cities where I live or I have lived. Catania (IT), Milan (IT) and Munich (DE) are currently in my expertise - so do not hesitate to ask for recommendations or to just hang out.
Unfortunately, studiosizes do not allow me to host as much as I would like - but a sofa is there to be used!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Me and two friends were visiting the Mt. Bromo in Java, which is actually a volcano. We decided to take advantage of the tourist-free late afternoon to walk inside the caldera, but we lost track of time and we ended up finding ourselves in the middle of it when the sun started going down. Paths were not marked at all and we just had our phones as light source and no signal. Luckily, I always carry with me a compass (thanks Mom and Dad for the hiking teachings) and SOMEHOW I managed to find the way to the exit point we needed to walk back to our accomodation on the ridge of the caldera. Still feel very proud of it.
