About Me

Matteo, in his 30s, liking to dream big.

After a bad exam at university, while reflecting on life’s meaning, I had an inspiration: I would finish uni asap, collect some money and start a world’s tour.
In 2019 I put all my courage in a suitcase and left.
The plan was well defined:
- take the plane only twice, to cross the Atlantic and the Pacific
- focusing on the South of the world, especially South America and Asia, with some exceptions (Japan, Korea and maybe California?)
- living and working in 4 countries along the way: Brazil, South Korea, India and Iran
- visiting all the other countries along the way
Brazil was my first wonderful stopover, where I lived for 1 year and a half. While I was studying the route to Argentina and Chile, 2020 pandemics came all the sudden.
I spent some months in a hostel in SP and in September 2020 I decided to go back to Italy.

What about the world’s tour now? It restarted...from Iceland!
Why Iceland? Because I’ve been dreaming about it since when I was a kid. And because everybody needs a Vegvisir to travel safely and far.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I subscribed some years ago because I loved the idea of getting to know the place you’re visiting through a local. That’s the best way to get a deep mark, to make that place becoming a feeling and not just a postcard.

After Covid pandemics, when the monthly fee was established, I decided to remain because I’ve been feeling that Couchsurfing is not just a website where to get a service, but it’s a community.
A community of people that are likely to share your interests, mindset or weltanschaaung.
It’s probable that when you meet a couchsurfer you’ll share quality and enriching talks.

Books

Canale Mussolini, by Antonio Pennacchi
