Overview
About Me
I'm from Christchurch New Zealand where I worked as a social worker helping people who struggled with their mental health. In 2014 I decided that traveling the world sounded like a good idea, so I booked a flight out and started my new adventure.
Since leaving home I’ve loved in several different countries and had so many amazing experiences along the way. I also met an American woman called Rachel, and we got married in 2019 and now live in the USA. She’s my travel buddy now 😁
Also I'm vegan. Not to say I'm good at cooking vegan food, but I can do some pretty good beans on toast.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To be honest I started couch surfing to save money but now I've met such cool people through it is definitely about meeting more people, although saving money does help.
I love getting to know more people, learning about where they're from, what they've done, and of course going out for a drink and seeing the cool local spots. That's how you learn about countries, not by following the map someone from a hostel gives you.
Interests
I love music, I can play guitar and sing, although a guitar was a bit big for backpacking so I also have a ukulele now. Every country I go to I ask someone to sign it so by the end if the trip the ukulele will be covered in countries written by people that I've met.
While living in New Zealand I also played/tried to play Ice Hockey and did some snowboarding.
I'm also trying to learn Spanish. I’ve been taking classes for a couple of years and I try to practice on an app called HelloTalk, but I have a long way to go.

Music, Movies, and Books
I really like 90's rock music like Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, Oasis, but also bands like the Hives who are awesome live, and the Dandy Warhols. Also other kinds of music like daft punk, chrvches, and M83. If you wanna listen to some kiwi music I'm sure I can think of a few suggestions.
Movies = heaps. I watch a lot of movies, probably too many movies...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I guess bungy jumping would count?
Traveling south east Asia and Europe so far have been pretty amazing so I'm definitely mentioning that.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm happy to talk about the places I've been to and where I'm from. I can help with English and playing guitar if that’s something you’re interested in.
