About Me

Hello everybody! My name is Matt and I am not evil! Promise.

I have lived all over Canada, and love it to pieces. But I want to see more of the world! I have always loved the little traveling I have done, and am anxious to do more.

I have always loved adventures and the outdoors. I have also always loved libraries and cities. One foot in both worlds, and hopefully enough love to go around.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have heard a lot of great things about couchsurfing, and figured, maybe its time to let go of my anxiety and give it a try. What better time?

Music, Movies, and Books

Ouch. Hard questions. I will tell you what I have been enjoying in the past week.

Music: Bob Dylan, Plants and Animals, RTJ, All them Witches, Future Islands, Takuya Kuroda...etc
I like music. A lot. I listen to a lot of it. I listen to some stuff that you would hate: drill rap, industrial noise, Appalachian folk, ambient, stoner metal, classical...etc. Good news is that odds are I also like what you like. I am also am into fumbling on the guitar or piano!

Movies: Paterson, Manchester by the Sea, Spring Summer Fall Winter... and Spring, Remains of the Day, Edge of Tomorrow.

I like great movies. I like weird movies. I like fun movies.

Books: Above my desk: Infinite Jest, Wittgenstein, The Jaguar's Children, Where the Bird Sings Best
I am currently reading: The Brothers Karamazov, Thus Spake Zarathustra, Aimless Love

Books are great.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I ended up on a small island at one point and I really liked it there. But I had nowhere to live. So I found a weird old abandoned structure in the woods and rebuilt it. It was 12x10, and 3 stories high. So I called it my Wizard's Tower. I put in new windows, new floors, new stairs, a kitchen...etc. There was no electricity so I put in solar panels! Without electricity, or really any modern conveniences made things tricky. I cut down trees, pulled wood off the beach, and did a LOT of sanding. That was amazing.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Laughter. Ideas. Stories. A tasty meal. With a little luck... an adventure!
