Overview
About Me
Hi, my name is Matthew and I'm from Cape Town, South-Africa. I'm 21 years old and currently taking a semester off from studying my 4th year of electronic engineering at Stellenbosch University.
While I was still in school my family moved around a lot, encouraging me to adapt to new situations and make new friends. And ever since I can remember I was in constant awe of natural sciences and physics, especially Astronomy.
In my free time I like to play guitar, listening to music, read, hike and socialize. I'm friendly, open-minded, hardworking and excited to explore the world.
I'm currently back in my home country continuing my studies. Unfortunately my living arrangements don't allow me to host any couch surfers, but I'm always happy to meet new people and show then around my home town.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to meet many different types of people to get a better perspective on the world and on the people who live in it.
Interests
From a young age I've loved talking to people and having a great time, who doesn't? My earliest memory was me falling asleep to mozart as a child, which is probably why I found an interest in music. I never really had an education in music as my parents much rather nurtured my curiosity for space and all things science. This has led me to where I am now, studying engineering in the hopes that I one day can help in creating something that flies in space. I love throwing parties at my flat back home and enjoy meeting new people at these events.

Music, Movies, and Books
It's difficult to peg what my music tastes are, but I know that I like almost all music. Recently I've been into weird and obscure music artists.
I've watched and rewatched almost all of Wes Anderson's or Taika Watiti's movies. And any movie a passionate movie watcher highly recommends.
I'm currently busy rereading Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy. Unfortunately I don't have a massive list of books I've read. But among this short list is 'Cosmos', 'Pale blue dot', 'A short history of nearly everything', 'Ender's Game' and of course all of thr Harry Potter books.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Spend a month on top of the Austrian Alps with a small community of Buddhists.
Teach, Learn, Share
Not much I can teach other than my home language, a quick guide to playing guitar, South-African party etiquette and maybe even a bit of science if you're really bored.
I'd love to learn anything you're willing to teach me, be it your home language, local customs and even your favourite way to eat dog biscuits (I don't judge).
