Overview
About Me
I recently picked up my life and transplanted from North Carolina to Sacramento for a 10-month national community service job with AmeriCorps. If you don't know what that organization is, I'd be more than happy to talk with anyone about it.
Though my job is keeping me in the area for 10 months, I plan on doing quite a bit of traveling after my contract is up, and I heard about couchsurfing as an option.
For right now, I'm on here to work out some options for planning a Northern California road trip with my sister when she flies into Sacramento from Raleigh, NC.
I know that getting verified on here is pretty crucial, so even though I'm not verified yet, I plan on doing so within the next couple of weeks. So, no worries there.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm currently planning a road trip with my sister over Christmas. I'm not set in stone with couch surfing since its brand new to me, but I'm keeping my options open.
Interests
I was raised as a nerd with my older sisters. We grew up watching the original Star Wars trilogy, the classic Star Trek tv shows and movies, as well as various other Sci-fi/fantasy shows and movies.
Cooking became a big hobby of mine while I was growing up, and I would always wind up making some pretty eclectic stuff with my dad and sisters, it also (usually) turned out pretty awesome! I worked my way up in the ranks in a few different restaurants, starting as a dishwasher and worked my way up to be a line cook.
I've always enjoyed doing something meaningful and being involved with various communities, so during college I took a major leap into community service. I took on leadership positions where I took teams of students to work with nonprofit organizations in South Carolina, Louisiana, and Ohio for a wide range of projects. Now, I work for AmeriCorps NCCC where I get to travel and do what I love.

Music, Movies, and Books
Again, I was raised as a sci-fi nerd. I guess make you own conclusions.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I won an award for my exceptional community service work. That was pretty amazing, especially since I've never really gotten an official award in my life.
Teach, Learn, Share
Not entirely sure what to put in this section. I like learning about people, where they've been, what they've seen, etc. I can try and teach you how to make a meal that you've always wanted to try.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can cook some awesome southern comfort food, as well as other delicious meals. I'm pretty adventurous when I comes to trying new food and beers, so I really enjoy learning where the locals go. I can also be pretty handy with fixing things, so I'm always down to help out where I can.
