About Me

A quick summary of the past year or so of my life that has put me on this path:
Quit my corporate job in Feb. 2014, spent the next month skiing the Northeast U.S. living out of my car being a ski bum, then worked on an organic farm in Massachusetts from May to November, and then flew to Puerto Rico in November 2014 to work at a hostel & start my Spanish language learning journey. During my time in Puerto Rico, I found that it wasn't the right place to be learning Spanish...the accent is not my favorite, they speak very fast/casually, and there's wayyyy too much English/Spanglish. So I've decided to move on to Mexico to learn some proper Spanish :)

But to summarize myself...I'm respectful, I clean up after myself, I love socializing/communicating with others, I listen, and I want to speak Spanish!!!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I wish I could reciprocate/offer up my own place for people to stay, but unfortunately I can't because I currently don't have a true permanent residence. Hopefully at some point during the next few years I'll find a city that I don't want to leave and then I'll put my "couch" up on this site.

I'm on this site because I have a limited budget and I want to meet locals who know their area/region, speak Spanish, and share the desire to meet good people who share similar interests.

Interests

People, the Spanish language, spicy/unique food, local/authentic experiences, futbol, dancing, music, reading, kindness, stories, farming, sharing, cooking, tennis & many other sports, learning.

Music, Movies, and Books

I will listen and dance to anything...literally. I enjoy a variety of genres & artists and I'm always open to new music suggestions.

I don't watch much TV and haven't seen many movies lately but I'd love to see more Spanish-language films from Mexico/South America/Spain.

Authors like Kurt Vonnegut and Michael Pollan, travel-philosophy books like On The Road by Kerouac and Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintence by Robert Pirsig. Books about farming/agricultural policy, politics, energy, science, and travel are of interest to me. I need to read more fiction!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spent a month during the winter of 2014 living out of my car skiing every single day up in Vermont, New Hampshire, & Maine! (states in the northeast of the United States bordering Canada) Not once did the temperature get above 0 degrees Celsius/32 degrees Fahrenheit, even during the day!

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: more than willing to teach some English in exchange for speaking Spanish! ...other than that, I could teach you to how to start a garden or maybe how to cook (or we could cook together if you already know how)!

Learn: Spanish and even more Spanish...I've never been so committed to something and my primary goal in life right now is learning the language, the culture, and the people.

Share: see the box below...?

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories, insights, cooking, knowledge, the human experience, positivity, generosity, compassion.

I'm just happy to leave the U.S. and share some time with other people, whether that be a few minutes or a few days. To see the world through the eyes of others. To communicate in the Spanish language because it provides a different perspective.

I believe in the goodwill of people and trust others. You can trust that your experience with me will only be positive.
