Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I initially joined Couchsurfing in 2015 when I visited Germany for the first time, although I didn't end up using it during that trip.

Now, I'm living in a smaller community in Germany (in Sachsen-Anhalt) and I'd like to see as many cities (and countries) as possible during my time here. I'm eager to meet new people and make new friends through my travels as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A few years ago, I was in Crookston, Minnesota for work. I usually hated that part of my job, but the trips always coincided with the Perseid meteor shower. Since Crookston is far away from any major city, the sky is perfect for star-gazing. We were heading back to our hotel, when out of the car window, we noticed a faint green glow along the northern horizon. It was still relatively early in the night (23:00) and we were below the 49th parallel, so we did not expect to see the northern lights. This is the first and only time I've seen the northern lights.

During a separate trip (or camping/climbing) at Blue Mounds State Park near Luverne, Minnesota (near the border with South Dakota) we spent the entire day at the crag watching thunderstorms roll past us, just south of our location. (Later that day, as we were packing to leave, it did end up raining on us.)
