About Me

Be rich in friends, family and experiences rather than money.

A friend I share a beer with will always be a friend of mine.

I really like getting out into the world and doing things. I grew up playing baseball literally my whole til a couple years ago. I like to be active, I like to be busy, I like to use my body and walk around and not sit on the couch. Basically I like to live life.

Currently, I'm finishing my Environmental Studies degree at FGCU and want to pursue a career in international climate solutions or natural resources.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I know I wasn't made to stay in one place. There's an entire world out there for me to see and experience.
So here I am. Gonna dance like a fucking fool; visit amazing places; practice and master the languages that I've been studying.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music to chill and drink beer to: country.
Music to dance and go HAM to: early 2000's punk rock like All American Rejects, RHCP and White Stripes.
Also beginner at salsa and bachata on fridays in Naples.
A book that I really enjoyed was city of Ember. I read a lot of environmentally related books just to increase my understanding of history and stuff. I started writing my own book and I published a blog too: http://callmemateo.com/

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to North Carolina last summer and got a job as a white water raft guide. That's pretty fucking crazy if you knew my parents and the semi-suburban lifestyle that I grew up in. In N.C I guided the Nantahala, hiked mountains, camped on the Appalachian Trail and just lived the best life that I could.

That was my breakout trip and defined how I was going to live my life in an amazing fashion.

Teach, Learn, Share

I sail when the weather permits at my college's waterfront, paddle board, kayak and fish too. If you've never experienced any of those things, I highly recommend and would show you the ropes.
I'd love for you to join me here in South West Florida, I'll show you around the quiet and not so quiet beaches and you've got a place to stay. I've got a small apartment I share with my roommates so I would actually be taking the couch and you would take my room lol.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share time and ideas. I enjoy conversation over coffee and beer. I'm open to showing you around my town and life too.
