About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To visit everywhere, meet everyone, and get the most out of this short life!

ABOUT ME

I'm British born Aussie with a serious travel bug, born from living all around the world since I was six years old. I love meeting new people as it's the one true way to learn about yourself and the world around you. Getting a real local opinion also really makes the experience so much more rewarding!

I'm currently working in Brighton, UK as an English teacher, and I really love it here! I've also lived in loads of other places such as: Australia, The UK, Hungary (working in a hostel), and Turkey. My goal is to add many more places to that list over the years :)

I'm a relaxed and easy-going guy who can get along with anyone. I've stayed and worked on farms in Turkey, crashed on couches during winter in Oslo, enjoyed amazing beer in Belgium, stayed in mountain cabins in Montenegro, and Couchsurfed/hitchhiked along the whole South coast of Anatolia. The whole time I never had a bad experience with any other host, traveller, or stranger I met along the way.

I'm a pretty pro-choice and I feel that everyone should have the the chance to have a go and decide their own fate. I also really believe in the overall goodness of humanity. I've never been proven wrong so far! We only live once after all!

PHILOSOPHY

Life is an open book.
The world decides where to put the words.
You decide where to end the chapters.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love being part of the Couchsurfing community! It made certain parts of my trip so memorable, and it is such a fantastic resource for any traveller to have.

I participated in the Big Franconian Meet-up in Germany back in 2014, and I met some amazing people there, some of which I am still friends with :)

I hope to meet more awesome people though the CS network, and make some great connections as I go. When I finally settle down I'll totally make sure I have a couch for anyone who needs it!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Around 3 years ago I went on an epic two year trip around Europe, bouncing all around the Central and Eastern parts. I quit my job, sold my car and bought a ticket to Germany without looking back.
I've Couchsurfed everywhere from Turkey to Norway since, mostly for a few days, but sometimes for weeks at a time! Personally I feel the times I spent Couchsurfing were the best times I had.

Interests

I'm into a lot of things Art, music, gaming, wandering and walking around, trying (and often failing) to speak new languages, trying local cuisine, especially trying local beers. I really love learning about history too, especially the place I'm visiting, and I always enjoy a good nerdy conversation!

Music, Movies, and Books

Musically I'm a big Coheed and Cambria fan. However I also like Amanda Palmer, Steven Wilson, Devin Townsend, and Radiohead. - but equally Opeth , Porcupine Tree and Deftones. Pretty varied.

Not much of a movie buff and I'm mainly a fan of animated movies and films. I'm also big fan of Wes Anderson.

I read on occasion, and It's generally travel or history related.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Buying cheese from a Montenegrin farmer high up on the side of a mountain. This actually happened and it was amazing: not only was the view breathtaking, but I was offered fresh water and a few stiff shots of Rajika to boot!

Crashed with some Austrian Tech students I met at a party in Budapest.

Climbed above the clouds in Slovakia to watch the sunset - all from the battlements of Spissky Hrad (Spiss Castle).

Walked with no gear from the German border to Austria, through knee high snow. One of the most fun - and stupid - things I've ever done.

Teach, Learn, Share

There's always a way to, around, or through anything. Just do your research and keep your nose to the ground. Trusting your instincts is one of the most important tools any traveler can have.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a fully CELTA qualified English teacher, so any notes or pointers you would like to improve your speaking or writing skills, I'll be more than happy to help!

I also have visited large parts of Europe an beyond, so any questions on places to go is more than welcome :)
