In early 2015 I sold all my belongings and began to ride around the world on a motorcycle. The motivation for doing such can be summed up in a twofold cliche: divorce and mid-life crisis. But what I've learned this last year is that traveling around the world by motorcycle has been, and always will be, the one thing that I've always wanted to do. My trip has been exactly as expected: completely unexpected. I do not have a specific itinerary or place to go, I ask people and hear my plan through other people and their stories and recommendations. At some point the money will run out and I will return to the United States and will end my mid-life retirement and begin work again.

This past year I've discovered that my fondest memories are not of cities, museums, specific sites or events. I learn and grow the most by meeting people and talking to them. When I meet someone new I embark on what I call "cultural tourism" and learn and discover what makes every person on this planet unique. These are my fondest memories to date and I hope to make more friends through couchsurfing.

I'm quite focused on motorcycles right now, as it is my solo mode of transportation. But once in a location, I enjoy learning as much as possible about local culture, food and daily life.

I am an expert motorcycle mechanic. I am obsessed with the economic structure of the world and how it relates to history, but most of my thoughts are evolving as new information is gathered.

I can fix anything on a motorcycle, provided correct parts are available. Likewise with your car, but with a little less expertise. I can do minor repairs on your car. I have worked construction and can build and fix a variety of household issues.
