Overview
About Me
I am originally from New York City in the United States. When I first moved to Japan, I lived in Ehime prefecture in Shikoku. Now I live in Sakai city in Osaka prefecture, just outside Osaka city.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Its always fun to meet new people from all over the world. Everyone has their own unique story whether they live on the opposite side of the world or the opposite side of the street. Its nice to be able to help people along their journey by offering a place to stay or a decent meal and become a part, even if a very small one, of that story.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
So far I have only experienced hosting others but I hope to be out surfing myself in the near future. Until now I`ve hosted people from 13 different countries. It`s always great to meet new people and get a glimpse of the world through someone else`s eyes by sharing a home, meal or conversation.
I've also had the amazing opportunity to go and visit and stay with friends who I had previously hosted when they took a biking trip through Japan. It was great to see them after a few years and catch up. Even though they only stayed with me for a few days, we felt like long lost friends when we reunited.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Rock, Ska, Jazz, EDM, classical. Anything really, I know when I hear it.
Movies: Jurassic Park, Ghibli movies, sci-fi
Books: Mostly history and other non-fiction with a not-insignificant dose of science fiction thrown in.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Participated in the Saidaiji Hadaka Matsuri in Okayama, Japan. A few thousand drunk men wearing nothing but extremely tightly wrapped loincloths running around temple grounds and the town in February cold and finally testing their resolve in the enormous crowd by trying to be the one who walks out with the Dai-shingi (blessed piece of wood with incense inside.)
Teach, Learn, Share
"Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it within us or we find it not." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
“Nothing makes the earth seem so spacious as to have friends at a distance; they make the latitudes and longitudes.” - Henry David Thoreau
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm still kinda new to the Kansai area so I might not be a huge help as far as planning a trip or giving detailed directions.
BUT I can share a place to stay, conversation and a meal. All about 20 min. from downtown Osaka on the Nankai line.
