About Me

Hello, my name is Matthew and I am a undergraduate from Chico State. For the time being I'm taking a break from school and seeking an experience of my own. This adventure of mine is to go from coast to coast and is largely inspired by the capabilities of the human spirit and the bonds formed from passing moments.
Hopefully this new and serendipitous ideal will lead to enriching opportunities and new experiences.

Prior to this commitment, I was a hardworking and actively involved student. Beyond my commitment to school I spent a great deal of time biking, going to Bidwell Park, and enjoying other college student activities. Other than that I just enjoy learning from new people!

All this aside though.. I'm a pretty laid back guy who loves conversation:)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am couch surfing because of a long awaited yearn to travel and break through barriers I tied myself down to. So to break free, I left to backpack my way across America in hopes to see life outside my comfort zone. Going from West to East, I am eagerly awaiting the people and places I will see and an unforgetable experience .

This program seems like an excellent opportunity to make new friends and make my journey more fulfilling. With that in mind, I guarantee that I can provide a warm personality and achieve the qualifications of a memorable guest.

Already viewing others profiles has made me feel more connected with others who are passionate in paying it forward.

Interests

My interests include the outdoors and making adventures with new people. Getting to learn someone's story &/or character is a fulfilling habit I've invested in ever since I left for college.

Outside of social gatherings I spend a great deal of time just learning new things and ways to make my life more fruitful. When I really look to relax I'm all about reading and tv.

Music, Movies, and Books

ON MUSIC:: I listen to all sorts of music although I favor songs with substance and a deeper story/meaning. Awkwardly I cannot remember most lyrics and end up embarrassing myself as I "hmm" through public chants. (I blame my small ears!)

ON MOVIES:: I don't brag about it enough, but I'm a tv buff and have a small addiction to Netflix. It's impossible to name favorites because I watch a wide array of genres. Most of my Netflix library consists of documentaries, SCI-FI, and a number of classics.

ON BOOKS:: Hardly the time for it, I often skim books and enjoy reading story lines, learning worldly ideals, or making crafts. As inspiring as fiction might be, I have learned to appreciate reality as a comforting adventure.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

For my 18th birthday I went skydiving at a place which later ended being sued for having faulty equipment. Thankfully I dropped down safely!

Teach, Learn, Share

TEACH: As young as I am I can provide a decent conversation on an array of subjects. Most of which stem from my own experiences and stories of growing up appreciating the craft of story telling.

LEARN: I would love to learn more from my hosts and their experiences from traveling. On top of this I am incredibly passionate about craftsmanship would love to talk about anyone's expertise in creating something unique.

SHARE: Stories and whatever I can find in this giant backpack of mine..

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Mexico
