My name is Matt and I'm a sociology PhD student based in Los Angeles, California. I love to travel, meet new people and learn about cultures from around the world. Originally from England, I grew up in the countryside and have a strong love for nature and outdoor adventures.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I joined the Couchsurfing community in the hopes of connecting with different types of people and being able to gain some insider knowledge on the places I visit. I'm really looking forward to meeting as many of you as I can both as a host and a guest.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the greatest experiences of my life was travelling around Spain by myself at the age of 17. For better or worse my parents were very hands-off in raising me so I was given free reign to set off by myself and explore the beautiful country. The experience really gave me a lot of personal confidence and faith in the world as I met so many people from all walks of life who helped me on the journey. Since that time travelling has been my biggest passion in life!

Currently studying for my PhD in sociology so I have some knowledge in this area. I'm also super interested in politics, history, international relations.
