CURRENT MISSION

ABOUT ME

We are an American-Australian couple who first participated in CS while on a year-long journey around the world in 2014. We're now back in Australia preparing to move to Sydney (from Brisbane), and looking forward to paying back all the great hospitality that people have shown us.

Matt (30, US) is a musician & educator who also speaks Spanish (intermediate level). Lanah (26, AU) is a travel agent in the airline industry who loves to cook & can maybe teach you some useless Australian slang, if you like.

PHILOSOPHY

Be brave & push yourself- most of us don't really know what we're capable of & there's no point holding back otherwise we'll never find out.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We began our CS education in Brasil & have now surfed through Chile, Ecuador, Colombia, Germany, The Netherlands, Denmark, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Turkey! It's been an incredible experience for us & we're now really keen to open our own home to surfers in Australia as soon as we're done with our current move down to Sydney.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

As we mentioned above- it's been incredible so far! We've been fortunate enough to meet some very smart, generous & hilarious souls who make traveling an even greater experience by sharing their lives with us. We feel like we've come to understand "real life" in many of the places we've surfed so far.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We both found the Grand Canyon in Arizona to be truly breathtaking. Matt has been lucky to tour the world playing music, which has always been amazing. Lanah has travelled around Australia as much as possible (with a lot left to go) & has seen some incredible natural beauty, 8000+ year-old Aboriginal art, native animals...
On this trip: Iguazu Falls, Machu Picchu, travelling through the north of Chile during an earthquake, the Cliffs of Moher, the gorgeous canals of Amsterdam... So much!

Teach, Learn, Share

Lanah would love to cook with/for our hosts, & Matt will gladly show you some tricks with the guitar, trombone, or piano. We are also excited to speak Spanish, French, & English with anyone who might want to practice any of those languages.
