Hello! My name is Matty, 23 from Wales, UK. I recently graduated from Leeds Beckett University in 2016 in Media, Communication & Cultures. For the past 4 years I have worked at a children's summer camp in Wisconsin, USA and recently spent the last winter in Vancouver, Canada working at a ski resort.

I have never couch surfed before and I have no idea why, I LOVE the idea of meeting new friends from around the world and think this is the most amazing platform ever and cannot wait to get started!

I come from a big family and love the 'home' atmosphere and think it would really cool to meet likeminded people away from home. I'm not a massive party animal, sometimes pretty introverted but when given a little push I am very social and love to just laugh for hours. I'm a BIG dog person and hoping to find a love for hiking/working out whilst traveling because I definitely do not have those skills right now haha!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm here because I'm a little fed up of traveling around the world and paying obscene amounts on hostels/hotels/Airbnb's with zero culture and uniqueness. When I found out about couch surfing I was mind-blown, what an amazing idea. I hope to host people from all over the world when I finally decide to settle (still got a lot of the world to see yet).

Sometime's I enjoy relaxing a little too much and I think by couch surfing i'll really enjoy from saying with someone and having someone to show me round, I take a little while to get really chatty with people I don't know, but once i've started I won't stop!

Interests

I have a wide variety of interests ranging from winter sports to writing. I spent the last 6 months learning to ski and snowboard and had THE best time and actually managed to land some tricks. I have a real interest in writing about travel and culture and actually run my own little travel blog, ask me about it and I would LOVE to interview you and share your story.

I'm a BIG sports person, I used to play a lot of football (soccer) but now I much prefer to watch football, rugby and most recently American football. Watching Netflix is a very fond pastime of mine, I try not to watch anything too much but I am a bit of a binge watcher when it comes to documentaries and tv series.

Above all else my biggest interest is eating. I LOVE to cook and eat and learn about different types of foods from around the world and think eating together in big groups is a brilliant way of getting to know one another, maybe with a nice glass of wine to go alongside?

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I love 80's pop music the most, anything with a great disco beat really. I also really enjoy a bit of rock and pop-punk from time to time. Also recently really got into musical theatre somehow.

Movies: Here we go... Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Saving Private Ryan, Inception, Back to the Future, Romeo & Juliet, The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Dirty Dancing, Footloose and TOPGUN!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I road tripped with 2 of my best friends from one side of America to the other in an epic 3 week journey the summer of 2015. We rented a car in Chicago and drove down to New Orleans and back passing through Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama and Iowa. The best trip I have ever taken!
