About Me

CURRENT MISSION

open my mind, body and spirit to new experiences as they come. dressing in all black.

ABOUT ME

Greetings earthlings! My name is Matthew, I'm 21 years old and am from San Jose, California. I've lived there most of my life, not including extended stays I have spent in Brooklyn, Ecuador, Senegal, and Switzerland. I'm a left-handed fraternal twin, which may be the most formative aspect of my personality. California good vibes are always appreciated and tend to radiate from me. I love to travel but also really enjoy the feeling of home. I am currently studying Sociology in California at a wonderful community college.

PHILOSOPHY

All I really need is a song in my heart, food in my belly and love in my family.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Currently looking for hosts as I travel this summer, but down to share my place when I can!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have actually couchsurfed before I opened an account! I surfed with a friend in Berlin for two days, and the experience of staying at someone's home truly made the stay so much more worthwhile. The only way to understand how a city works is to see it through the eyes of those who call it home. I am hoping for such experiences with couchsurfing again and when possible, want to give that to others as well.

Interests

Farm-life and agriculture, kombucha, going to school, all things Californian, Magic:The Gathering, the internet, pigeons, foreign languages, bomb food

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Sofia Coppola, Wes Anderson, Spike Jonze, and Quentin Tarentino
Music: Women singers, mostly. Joni Mitchell, Nina Simone, FKA Twigs, SZA, Little Dragon
Books: The best book I ever read was From the Mixed Up Files of Ms. Basel E. Frankweiler. I will surely live in the Museum of Modern Art in NYC one day.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I gave my all in a Senegalese drum circle in the smallest of villages under a star-filled sky.
