Overview
About Me
Young professional working in the Energy Industry, travelling whenever I can but always exploring. I find my work utterly fascinating and allows me to work in interesting places like Israel, Jordan and Nigeria. Most weekends I spend in the Scottish Highlands climbing mountains.
Perfectly located in Edinburgh so it feels a crime not to invite folk to stay. That said, my flatmates and I are pretty busy during the week and are often out at weekends, but we'll try host when we can. When travelling, I will also try to couchsurf as there is no better way to get to know a place by meeting its people.
Always stray off the beaten path!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've met so many cool people I would have otherwise never met, both surfing and hosting. I really, really enjoy showing people about and hosting by doing it properly, not just providing a couch - I want to gain a friend when hosting!!
Interests
Exploring, trekking, drinking and playing and watching pretty much any sport. I'm very inquisitive and love discovering new stuff. Some interests include geopolitics, brutalist architecture, decarbonisation, big data, football, urban planning, geology. I enjoy nothing more than exploring somewhere new. Most recently this has meant spending all my weekends in the Scottish Highlands climbing mountains.
Music, Movies, and Books
Joy Division to Carly Rae Jepson and good stuff in between. I listen to a lot of new music and spend an inordinate amount on vinyl and going to gigs in both Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Films, anything Wes Anderson style and independent. I'm not a big TV series watcher as I watch far too much sport. Books, Salinger is my favourite author, although I guess I tend to read non-fiction. I think all my tastes are encompassed by the term 'twee'.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm a geography junkie, insomuch as I am terrible at remembering names, but always remember precisely where someone is from. I know Scotland fairly well so can help planning highland trips.
What I Can Share with Hosts
A couch, tea and knowledge of the best bars in Edinburgh. And a game of Settlers of Catan.
