About Me

Former professional bicycle mechanic and keen bicycle tourer.

I'M SORRY, HOSTING IS DIFFICULT (BUT NOT IMPOSSIBLE) AT THE MOMENT. BUT I'M HAPPY TO SHARE A DRINK, MEAL AND A FEW TRAVELLING TALES WITH YOU.

At the end of May 2014, I began an epic bike ride through the Americas.
I have toured extensively in the UK and through Europe too, but this was the "biggie"
have a look at my new blog:

In March 2016 I finally arrived in Ushuaia, Patagonia having cycled almost 42,000 kilometres!
I'm still amazed.

Couchsurfing hosts helped me all along my journey and I am grateful to each and every one.
It really is great to be part of this community.
While at the moment, it is difficult to host. My living circumstances make it awkward. But it would be great to meet, have a drink show you around or just point you in the right direction.
In the near future. I hope to be able to host as well.

As a professional mechanic, I am willing to look over your bike while I am there and if not fix it, I could certainly advise you on what needs doing. Just give me a little notice.
My feedback says it all.
I am a quiet, laid back, and easy house guest. I make no demands or unreasonable requests, nor do I have grand expectations.
I try to be self enclosed and self sufficient but at the same time long, sometimes lonely days on the road make meeting new people exciting and interesting.

Note: Though I don't expect it, if you are generous enough to host me and provide food, I am lactose intolerant and generally avoid any milk, yoghurt, cheese or other dairy products.
Also, for similar health reasons, I do not drink coffee or alcohol (but have no objection if others do)
Otherwise, I am open minded and anything else goes! I love discovering new foods. And enjoy cooking given the opportunity.
I look forward to meeting you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm tidy, quiet and willing to contribute.
I am not a party animal but like to have fun.
Get to know me, and you will see me in a different light.
I am open minded and enjoy discovering new things
I am a decent and likeable guy.
I enjoy a good conversation, a movie, to read a book or article or just sit and watch the sun go down in silence.
I'm told I am a pretty decent cook too. So give me a kitchen and some ingredients and I might be able to surprise you further.
I love it!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have spent time in various locations in the UK, Europe and beyond. I have made some very good friends through the Warmshowers and Couchsurfing communities

Interests

Cyclist. Cooking, Computers and internet, Outdoor lifestyle. Travel. Adventure and meeting new people.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like Indie rock music. 90's britpop and the classics from the 70's and 80's. I am always interested to find new bands and new music. I have quite eclectic tastes.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Just one?!
I have cycled the Dalton Highway and camped on the roadside in -10C blizzards! Had encounters with 36 bears while travelling through Alaska and Canada. So far I have cycled almost42,000 kilometres!! Rode around the planet without actually cycling around the planet. Climbed the mountains in the Andes. Cycled alone in the Jungles of Guatemala, Eaten strange food in Peru and the hottest chilis in Mexico, Camped at 4000m metres Cooked food that was stolen by squirrels. So many stories to tell.

Teach, Learn, Share

TEACH YOU ENGLISH!!
I am told my spoken accent is very clear, so if you want to try to learn and practice a little English, I would be more than happy to try to explain a few thing to you.

I am also professional bicycle mechanic by trade, so if you want me to look over your bicycle,I'd be more than willing. If I cant fix it, I can at least advise you what needs doing, so your local shop does not try to rip you off.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I enjoy cooking, So I'd be happy to prepare a meal in your kitchen for us to share while we chat. I'm told I do a pretty mean curry amongst other things! Though, I also get inspiration from new dishes as I pass through various regions on my travels.
