New to Couchsurfing

My name is Matt, and I am a recent graduate of the University of Delaware, and future graduate student pursuing a degree in Special Education. My brother has autism, which sparked my interest in that area. I love surfing and soccer (basically any kind of sport). During the summers I live at the beach and teach surf lessons daily.

I've grown up in a small rural state, and the more I see of my own country and the whole as a whole, the more I want to see. Always trying to be as flexible and open-minded as possible. I'm also insanely into all types of music - nothing beats a good concert. I write and record alternative hip-hop music in my spare time, though recently I've been trying to pick up the guitar (success on that has been minimal). I love nightlife, exploring, conversations, and anything in between.

Although I am new to Couchsurfing, I have volunteered abroad and lived with several host families, as well as served as a host family briefly, so I have some experience with a similar system. Hope to meet some good people, be a good guest and host, and expand my CS network!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I began traveling periodically over the past few years, and am looking to take a few months to travel before beginning graduate school. I love learning about other cultures, meeting new people, and seeing their unique perspective and lifestyle. I want to travel to obviously broaden my horizons, and hopefully have a lot of fun in the process. Couchsurfing seems perfect for someone like me, giving me the chance to meet locals and get a personal view of their culture, as well allowing me to save some money on housing in the process. In the future I'd love to host people who may want to visit the US as well, and give them the same kind of experience I hope to have while couchsurfing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I teach surf lessons in the summer time back home with my best friend, so I can help you out with anything related to that if interested! Also, I can teach you how to dance poorly, but with no shame. That's my specialty.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share a flexible and open mind, respect, help with stuff they may need done around the house, and just be someone who's willing to have fun doing whatever.
