About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn as much as I can, whenever and wherever I can

ABOUT ME

Hi! I'm Matt - I'm ginger, energetic, speedy, adventurous and I love digging in the dirt! I'm above all else an archaeologist! - which is the study of human remains, NOT dinosaurs!

I've only been bitten by the travel bug in the last few years, taking excursions around Europe and India and spending a couple of months living in South Dakota and Tuscany to excavate old things.

However, I've realised I love living rough, meeting new people, doing insane things and generally embracing the joys of travelling, be that trekking the Himalayas with Delhi Belly, learning to ride a moped on the busiest footbridge in all of India, or getting drunk in a gay bar in Florence.

In my spare time at home, I spend a lot of time travelling around my local area and I'm fortunate that my PhD means I get to explore some great places - England is my home and I always maintain that it's as beautiful and fascinating as everywhere else in the world - you just need to look in the right places! I love cooking (and if you surf with me or vice versa, be sure to expect a tasty meal concocted from whatever I can get my hands on!), reading, films, chilling about with a takeaway and beers and when I'm travelling I'm up for pretty much anything and everything!

Basically, I've seen the joys the couchsurfing first hand and want to take part in this amazing community and can't wait to meet people from any part of the world!

Travel safe and hope to see you soon!

PHILOSOPHY

Take every opportunity - even if it seems beyond your reach.

Music, Movies, and Books

Wow! Where to start???
Movies: Pulp Fiction, Despicable Me, Forest Gump, Frost/Nixon, (500) Days of Summer, Inglourious Basterds, The Amazing Spiderman, Megamind, Con Air, Die Hard
BUT I will literally watch ANY film!

Music: Anything with a solid beat. Used to play drums when I was younger and I find I can get into any music or any genre provided if the drumming is good!

Books: Dracula, Cemetery Garden, Green Mile, Time Traveller's Wife, Loudest Sound and Nothing

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Whilst white-water rafting, I rode the rapids and got sucked into a whirlpool and nearly died! Got out of the that situation and then went tombstoning!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can give you advice on historic/archaeologically interesting sites in Britain and Europe.

I can show you how to cook some awesome meals from basic foods.

I can offer the largest variety of random facts and probably more film and tv trivia than you would ever want to know!

Would like to learn:

> Any and all tips on travelling anywhere in the world? I love 'undiscovered' gems.

> Cooking tips from a huge variety of cultures
