About Me

Got completely burnt out on the corporate grind of being a lawyer in San Francisco and needed a change. I had been inspired by so many friends in SF to do some long term traveling, so I said f*** it, I'm out.

I traveled briefly in Europe a few times in college, but had never done any extended, real travel. But I had enough of a taste for it and knew that I didn't want to be like so many Americans that fail to get outside their borders and really see the world from a different perspective.

So in March 2015 I quit my job and headed to New Zealand. I haven't made it far, only visiting NZ, Aus, Nepal, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and now Vietnam, but I've been taking the time to see these places as well as I can, and I plan to continue to do that going forward.

Got 3 months in Vietnam, so lots of flexibility to dig in and see it. Would love and appreciate any hosting, help or insight.

As for me, I'm mellow, happy, respectful and kind. I get along with anyone and I make friends easily. I'm easy going to the point of being indecisive. I don't like super touristy stuff or the overly obnoxious tourist bar or club where young travelers just go to drink as much booze as they can. But I do love a great party or club, but more on the underground and/or mellower level, and in a bit more of a non-alcohol altered state of consciousness (although not necessary to have a good time). My interests are pretty broad, from trekking to sports to art/culture to local food. To be honest, I just kind of jump in a place, feel out what it has to offer, and go for it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Authenticity. Both to offer and to find it.

I love San Francisco and started hosting because I wanted to give people an authentic look at the city and show them the non-touristy parts, give people a free place to stay, and show them the best the city has to offer. And I made some amazing friends in the process.

So for my own travels, I want to find authentic experiences in the places I visit. Touristy places and sites are nice to see, but I want to experience the culture in a genuine way, and be able to see the places I visit through the eyes of the local person.

And I had nothing but fantastic experiences while hosting, so I am sure I'll meet some rad folks couchsurfing.
