About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To experience life to it's fullest, to find and connect with true, genuine people, to see sights I have never seen and to try things I have never tried. I want to make the most of my time here.

ABOUT ME

Civil Engineer motorcyclist who loves adventuring and exploring. I had a ten thousand kilometre trip around Canada when I was 21, and it was the best decision I have ever made. Admittedly I am a bit of a nerd, and did not really discover how fantastic life can be until I had finished my degree, and now I know what I was missing. Museums, going for beer, bungee jumping, water rafting, niche restaurants, hikes, cliff jumping, almost anything that is worth experiencing in life, I would like to experience.

PHILOSOPHY

Everybody has something to offer. Whether they are the most prestigious doctor or a homeless man on a street, lessons can be learned everywhere. I am very trusting, and that has allowed me to learn soooo much more over the years, people should always be given the benefit of the doubt.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am primarily a surfer since my accommodations at the moment are a little non ideal being a one bedroom, but all are welcome!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have stayed with quite a few people, and have enjoyed every experience. It is sooooo bizarre spending that much time with someone from a different world, someone you have ever met, but that in it's own is an experience which embeds memories. The people who I have stayed with were as fantastic as the sights I had seen, and the foods I had tried. I could always stay in a hotel, but couchsurfing has time and again proved hotel stays to be way inferior.

I like to listen. I love the couchsurfers who share their experience, travels and life lessons. The only thing I ask if you stay with me, is try to teach me something, whether it is how to properly plant a flower or a theory you strongly believe, I always love to learn (no pressure ;)).

Interests

On my free time, I play guitar, hike, go out dancing or volunteer tutor. I play piano pretty well, and violin at an awful level. I keep a book of invention ideas that I one day hope to use as a portfolio for gadgets and improvements made.

Music, Movies, and Books

I read almost everything. Big fan of Wes Anderson movies and Kung Fu flicks. I have read all of Malcolm Gladwell, Nasim Taleb, and much of Margaret Atwood. During an injury period I just scoured the top 100 book lists, ordered most of them and read day in day out.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

During an Eastern Canada trip, I was riding my motorcycle directly into a thunderstorm on the highway, and still had a few hours to go before I reached my couchsurfing destination. It was me alone in the highway, legs shaking, summer rain pelting, sky flashing and cloud booming madness. It was the most in tune I think I had ever been with a storm, and it is an experience I will never forget. I was truly and utterly breathtaken.

Teach, Learn, Share

Absolutely anyone. If you have something I do not know about the world, I would like to know it!

I can teach you about architecture, I can teach you piano, guitar, accordion, basic juggling, how to whistle, how to play a MEAN game of chess, how to make a buzz with a blade of grass, how to make a chunk of salmon in the most delicious way possible and how to skip a stone.
