About Me

CURRENT MISSION

After many years of travel and adventure I am currently living a rather secluded life off grid in the forest with my sweetheart, allowing myself to be recharged by simplicity and nature, listening to what the silence has to say, and discovering where my center is at this moment in my life. At present I am trying to build a routine of productivity and creativity into my life.

ABOUT ME

I have no idea where this ride is going, but I sure do love it... I've tried to forgive the world its confusion and incomprehensibility and have come to find value and enjoyment in the diversity and chaos of the human experience, whether it makes sense or not. I live quite comfortably in the space where sometimes conflicting perspectives overlap, understanding that there is no real conflict at all, but that each side of the spectrum is valid and worthwhile and we get to decide what is meaningful for us. And that's the best part. We get to decide. Though it's not always easy. Seldom easy, in fact. Thus, you'll find me dancing on either side of the line between giving and taking, recklessness and prudence, indulgence and abstinence, going and staying, believer and cynic, political and apolitical, laughing and crying, doing and not doing...just always trying to do it better than I did before as it comes and goes in cycles. I dig life and the impossible amount of experience it offers, so I'm trying to fill me up with some of it. Get my hands into the dirt of it, get some of that dirt in my bones.

PHILOSOPHY

Don't forget it's a choice to involve yourself in the world, and how.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have always been a curious person and find immense joy in discovery and in sharing the human experience. Being a witness to it. I have had unforgettable moments both hosting and surfing through this site, and outside of it.

Interests

I play guitar and a little ukulele, I love singing songs and do so often. I love to dance, be social, leaving my front door. Coffee or tea? Yes please. Whiskey? Yes please. Dressing up. Dressing down. I cherish a good sit on the front porch, and a good bike ride across town, and do both often. I spend a lot of time with friends, my dear brother, and family. I really enjoy the ritual that surrounds cooking food and eating with other people, though seem to be cooking less these days... Adventures! Any kind of 'em: coastal, river, mountain, rodeo adventures, big city adventures, deep space adventures, road trips, the quiet sacking of a small town... But no matter how far my feet take me, I always love coming back to that front door.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: americana, blues, swing, old country, folk, cabaret, "rock", local. Anything with a funky bass or a swanky rhythm that I can dance to.

I don't have a t.v. but definitely enjoy a good movie, or hell, even a bad movie, on a mellow night.

Haven't been reading as voraciously as I'd like being out of school right now, but I'm workin' my way through some Vonnegut, Miller, and some Palahniuk right now. East of Eden by Steinbeck is currently holding the position as my most recent favorite book.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I’d love to offer a meal, or a song, or some help around the house, or all three! I am also happy to share a generous heart and a good pair of ears.
