About Me
Hey couchsurfing people, I am Matthias from Münster! Welcome on my profile which still has to grow a little bit. Time will tell. :D
Although being registered in the couchsurfing community for quite some time I am not very experienced doing couchsurfing so far. But many of my close friends are active couchsurfers, and being inspired by their interesting stories I also wanna start meeting and hosting people now.
Normally I don't like to "showcase" myself, because it's actually up to you to form your opinion about me (and maybe leave a good reference on my profile ;-) ), but for a brief introduction I would say that I am a very open-minded, tolerant and relaxed person. I hate prejudices, narrow-mindedness and arrogance. I especially hate lies and showing-off. For me national borders are totally irrelevant. What counts to me, are the people and their stories. They say that travelling broadens your mind, and so does a good conversation with someone from another corner of the world. It's impossible to travel to all the amazing places this planet has to offer and for reasons of climate protection not wise either, therefore it's all the more important to make your living-room an open place to promote personal and cultural exchange.
A quote says that reading is a means of thinking with another person's mind, because it forces you to stretch your own. I would say that your mind can also be stretched while having an inspiring conversation.
Interests
I love to meet people, to share a beer or a good bottle of wine togehter and to chat until the early hours of the morning. I love to dance, right now I start again with Salsa lessons.
I love to travel into nature, to do hiking all day long and to totally forget the world around me.
Music, Movies, and Books
Parov Stelar, Filatov and Karas, Daft Punk, Daddy Yankee, Dua Lipa, RHCP, Incubus, Arcade Fire, electro swing, house, Balkan music. Constantly changing!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
During my time at university I studied half a year in Valencia in Spain. It was literally the first time for me to stay and survive in a "foreign" country. Since I am not too eager to organize things in advance I really had to jump in at the deep end. Retrospectively, I have to say that the start was quite tough, but later it turned out to be one of the best times of my life so far. I met so many amazing people and experienced so much hospitality that I am still deeply connected to this country and its people!
