Hey!

I’m Mattia, a 20-year-old exchange student currently based in Taiwan, doing my second semester here.
I just joined Couchsurfing and tried it in China during a one-week trip with a friend!

I’m from Sardinia, a beautiful island in Italy. I’m studying Business Administration, but my interests go way beyond that: I’m really into geopolitics, history, art, and I try to look at things with a curious and open-minded mindset.

I usually travel on a budget, focusing more on experiences than comfort. That said, I’m always happy to spend on museums, cultural activities, and also on simple nights out with locals.

I’m a former scout and a big outdoor enthusiast. I try to spend as many weekends as possible in nature—it’s where I feel in peace. I’m also used to adapting to challenging or uncomfortable situations, and I actually enjoy pushing myself out of my comfort zone. Since I’m planning some big hikings, I’ve been getting into ultra-light and minimalistic gear too.

I’m really looking forward to meeting new people, sharing experiences, and learning about different backgrounds and cultures (and I hope my new profile on Couchsurfing won’t be a problem)!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Since arriving in Asia, I’ve been travelling as much as possible and I’ve already visited several countries across Southeast Asia and beyond. I’m always excited to share stories, but even more to connect with locals and experience places in a more authentic way. That’s what brought me here, I see Couchsurfing as the next step in that journey!
