About Me

**Sorry! I can't accept guests as I live with my grandparents. My couch will be opened in the future.**

I'm 22 and really still figuring out what this being human shit is all about and what I should do about it so I don't have many definitive things to write here =))).

I travel to experience new things. Sometimes, life can get safe and boring at home. I'm a fan of both bustling cities and remote places in nature.

I like to make art, read both fiction and non-fiction, discuss a wide range of topics. I listen to quite a lot of music, mostly indie rock / punky stuff and ambient, but I don't really exclude anything.

I would like to consider myself open to others and quite silly in my humour.

I try to understand the world more clearly and somewhat follow what's going on with big issues like political, religious and ideological extremism, artifical intelligence (and many other world-changing technologies), climate change, etc. I try to have a nuanced view about most things. I try to tolerate and understand all viewpoints, which works out in the large majority of cases.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To experience a travel location more from the eyes of someone who lives there and not only the main tourist traps. The one-on-one exchange is an interesting idea. When I'm in hostels I can sometimes get a bit solitary and not really interact with people too much but living in a Couchsurfing situation prevents that from happening entirely, I imagine.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I've found that a lot of the music I like has a lot of emphasis put on lyrics and concept. I listen to many different genres, mostly something like indie or alternative rock and maybe metal and hip-hop a bit less. Bands and artists like Talking Heads, Destroyer, New Order, Brian Eno, Death Grips, Tim Hecker, Sufjan Stevens, Parquet Courts.

Movies: I don't watch films too often. Old ones I have liked: Pierrot Le Fou, Trainspotting, The Grand Budapest Hotel, A Serious Man. Newer ones I liked: Tangerines & Portugal & November (Estonian films), Lucky.

Books: I guess my favourite writer is Milan Kundera ("Lightness" is my favourite but I haven't read all of his writing), Dostoevsky's "Idiot" I enjoyed a lot, currently struggling (long!!!) with '"Brothers Karamazov". Camus's "The Fall", Remarque's "Arc de Triomphe", Hemingway's "The Sun Also Rises", I really liked Proust's "Amour de Swann", sadly we don't have much of him in Estonian.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sung solo and sung well some Estonian ballad in my school.

Did WWOOFing in France in autumn of 2017. Learned a lot of French. Caught what was probably scabies and cured myself and got through the mental hardship of having something like that while staying at other peoples' homes.

Teach, Learn, Share

It's a bit of a cliché interest maybe but it's always fascinating how different cultures have different understandings and views of the world. Personally I'm really interested in how certain language groups use their language, how they communicate.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Honest, silly or serious conversation. My unique experience, views and opinions.

I can clean. Basically I can cook too but nothing too interesting usually.

I'm into going out and having a laugh and fucking around so let's do that.

Countries I’ve Visited

Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Latvia, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Estonia
