About Me

CURRENT MISSION

travel the world (slowly) wwoofing (working on organic farms voluntarily through wwoof or helpx websites) - make music, write, draw, develop my trumpet playing, type up my diary/notes/stories from South America and Trinidad where I was living, travelling and working on organic farms from April 2016 to January 2019

ABOUT ME

musician - wwoofer (willing worker on organic farms) - quiet - hard-worker
i have been mostly wwoofing for the last 11 years - in Ireland initially (2007 -2008), then Spain from November 2008 till October 2012 - after 5 months of voluntary work renovating and living on an old steel sailing boat in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria i did some more wwooofing for four months on El Hierro - after this i had the opportunity to develop my own vegetable gardens and look after around 80 young fruit trees in a secluded part of El Hierro over a period of around 2 years. i also busked on the tin-whistle and trumpet there, helped with some dry-stone construction projects and sold some of the fruit and veg from my garden at the local market and supermarket. In March/April 2016 i decided to leave Europe, hitching a lift on a sailing boat from Gran Canaria to Trinidad (via Capo Verde) where i helped with two different organic agricultural projects ( see http://www.wwoof-caribbean.org/host-list/24069-one-family-farms/ and http://www.helpx.net/host.asp?hostID=36683&network=9 ). From July 23rd 2016 to April 2018 i was living and volunteering on farms in South America - 3 months in las Amazonas de Venezuela), 3 months in Colombia ( en la zona de Cahipay, Anolaima, Florida, west of Bogota), 6 months in Ecuador, 6 months in Peru, 2 months in Brasil, another 7 months at the One Family Farm, Trinidad ( after sailing up from Joao Pessoa, Brasil)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

i hosted some couchsurfers during my stay on El Hierro - it was good to meet different people and also give them the chance to experience the beautiful place in which had the privilege and the pleasure to live and cultivate.

- i have couchsurfed a few times - in Vigo, Spain (2009), Bayonne, France (2010 - two different hosts),in Alicante (2010), in Arima, Trinidad ( 2016 and 2018 ), in Caracas, Venezuela (2016), in Tulcan, Ecuador (2017), in Brazil (2018) ...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

summer 2009 i couchsurfed once for three nights in Vigo - with very hospitable couple who even gave me a key for the flat! - was visiting a friend in Vigo i hadn´t seen for over 10 years but still managed to spend some good time with my couchsurfing hosts - patricia and i saw an amazing jazz concert - en la plaza - Omar Sosa - very impressive - very musical... autumn 2010 couchsurfed one night with a guy in Bayonne - a church organist who let me play the organ in the church he plays in - great powerful sound! - 2 weeks later i surfed with a student nurse who was very trusting leaving me a key and letting me stay overnight while she was working a nightshift caring for an old lady! These and all my other couchsurfing experiences have all been fun and I am grateful and happy to have met many generous and interesting people through this website.
