About Me

I'm an English teacher, living in Seoul! I work at the British Council (영국문화원). Before this I taught on the east coast of South Korea, taught just outside of Tokyo, and studied for a year at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. I love living abroad!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to learn as much as possible about my destination! I love walking aimlessly around cities but it's great to have a few recommendations of good places to go, especially ones tourists might miss.

My experience with Couchsurfing has brought me into the homes of people in Indonesia, South Korea and Japan. The kindness of everyone who has hosted me will stay with me!

I started hosting in 2016, it's been fun so far!

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite book is probably 1984 by George Orwell. An obvious choice but no book has affected the way I see the world more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hitch-hiked across (half of) the United States with a mate. The people who gave us rides were all unique and interesting, I really recommend doing it! A personal highlight was getting a ten minute ride in Mississippi from two guys who went by '2 Beers' and 'Dirty D', and who had a rooster in the back of their pick up truck.

Teach, Learn, Share

I teach English so I can help you with that if you need it! Plus I can help you learn the Korean alphabet, Hangul.

Also several times I've hosted people who are on their way to Japan next and I can offer advice on that. I've travelled fairly extensively across the southern half of Japan (if you're going north of Tokyo I have no idea). I've also travelled (far less extensively) across South East Asia and in Bali.
