About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Make my business location-independent and be a good person. By the way, I currently in Istanbul, Turkey.

ABOUT ME

I'm an easygoing, adventurous guy. I'm nice and get along well with dogs, except little yappy ones that nip at my heels, I don't like those.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am interested in meeting people along my travels, which is why I signed up for CS. I also like to surf on couches when I'm passing through town.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I used Couchsurfing for most of the second half of my walk across Turkey.

Interests

I like to read and write (I've written a couple books, check out Amazon). I also like to walk -- I like that more than just about anything else, actually.

I walked across Turkey a few years ago, every meter from Kuşadası to the Turkey/Iran border east of Van. 2100 kilometers (1305 miles), 7 months. Walk started 1 Sept, 2012, and finished on 13 April, 2013. See the route and photos on my website, mattkrause.com.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I bungee jumped once, and hated every minute of it. I went with a bunch of skydivers who were totally cool with the idea of jumping off of stuff, and they swan dove off that bridge with such grace. When it came my time, though, I just buckled at the knees and plunged headfirst towards the rocks below. What I remember most is looking past my shoes as the observers on the bridge above quickly disappeared into the distance, and then bouncing around and screaming like a stuck pig before they hauled me up. Everyone got to do two jumps. I was more than happy to donate my second jump to a friend in the group.
