About Me

I work and live full-time in Pittsburgh. I live with my girlfriend and two cats and have a close network of friends and acquaintances throughout the city.

I truly believe that when you treat everyone you come across as your equal that great things manifest. So if you’re reading this: please be kind to one another!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to explore the underbelly of places and not just the tourist attractions. The best way to do this is find like-minded people before you visit somewhere. I love guiding people in the right direction in my town as well.

Interests

Collaborative workshops are cool. Show me something new. I love hiking and biking. Exploring new places on foot or bike allows you to see and experience so much more.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am very open minded to all kinds of music. Some artists/bands I enjoy: John Prine, Slayer, Spoon, Louis Logic, Todd Terje, Charles Mingus, Black Sabbath, 2Pac, Wu-Tang, Stiff Little Fingers, Sublime, Bob Marley, Dave Alvin, Dire Straits, Dr Hook, Huey Lewis, Brother Ali, Sepultura, Jadakiss, Donald Byrd, Kool Keith, Velvet Underground, Battles, and well you get the idea.

Movie-wise I most enjoy documentaries of all types. Some that I would recommend are Crumb (which is about R Crumb), Hands on a Hardbody (cult classic I believe) and Cave Of Forgotten Dreams (with Werner Herzog). Capturing The Friedmans is another favorite of mine, as are many others that challenge our faith in the system.

For books I really enjoy small press comics, the musings of Dave Barry and history.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Scuba diving 40 feet below in Aruba was absolutely amazing. The coral, different forms of life, and peacefulness takes you away from world that you know briefly. Would love to hear of more places to try.

Teach, Learn, Share

Not sure what I could teach specifically. Usually if something is learned it is through having nice, intellectual conversation. Political conversations typically bore or annoy me unless done with the right people. In my experience with discussing politics, people tend to talk more than listen and oddly have very strong convictions on matters they hold very little knowledge. Learning perspectives is very important to me.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook and clean and share charming anecdotes. If you have pets I can tend to their needs.

Countries I’ve Visited

Aruba, Canada, Costa Rica
