Overview
About Me
I am a friendly chap originally from London, via Kent, but have called Liverpool my home since 2001. With a great sense of humour and a love of laughter I'm known to brighten many a moment and give a spirit lift when needed.
Music takes a high place in my rankings of what is important and I've turned a lifetime of appreciation into a DJ career that has seen me perform in a number of settings from cafes to weddings, clubs, festivals, and even silent discos in Hong Kong – it's a mixed bag!
I run music events in Liverpool, our flagship night is Speakeasy – a modern reimagining of a prohibition style club, and I'm involved in festival production across the summer counting Glastonbury, Shambala, Secret Garden Party and Bomtown as regulars.
I'm also a visual creative with regular graphic design and web design clients, and I'm a keen iPhonographer – just ask me about umbrellas when you meet me..
I love charity shopping as it embodies the spirit of serendipity which suits me. I like to follow life and see where it takes me.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm moving around the UK and beyond for work and visiting friends. Id like to mix it up and make some new friends along the way :)
I originally joined as I went to Japan in January 2010 but ended up not needing to surf.
Previously I've surfed a couple of times in Brasil, with someone else, and have hosted a few times in Liverpool. I've stayed on more couches than I remember and and have put up plenty in return, just not via this site.

Music, Movies, and Books
We could be here for days....
Music - Hip hop, Funk, Disco, DnB, Electroswing, Ghettofunk, Moonbahton, Glitch hop, some House/Techno, classics (70s/80s/90s pop bangers), Classical (don't know many pieces by name but love listening to it especially when I'm studying), Jazz and a million more molecules of the myriad of music.
Movies - On the one hand I like really clever original films like Pulp Fiction, Shawshank, Inception etc but the other hand likes Crank, Starship Troopers etc. Don't ask me why my hands are watching movies. Love the Studio Ghibli movies and have visited the Ghibli museum in Tokyo.
Books - loving my cyber punk from Neuromancer to Snow Crash, from A Scanner Darkly to Number 9 Dream. That barely in the future sci-fi with an often dystopian setting that gets my mind racing. Also getting into Terry Pratchett recently.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Back in school when the kid that always got picked on finally snapped and launched the class bully across the class and over the table. The change in atmosphere was permanent and respect was due.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have run workshops on the basics of graphic design theory and practical tuition of Adobe Creative Suite – Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign. Handy with a shortcut or two I'd happily impart some knowledge, or gain some!
In general I'm a good communicator with an adaptable nature and a good technical ability. This means I can translate tech talk into non-geek speak.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'll buy the food, or the wine depending...
