About Me

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Traveling around and love meeting up with locals to chat and see the city, grab a meal or a cuppa tea.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Have spent years crashing on couches of friends and friends of friends, but new to this site. Excited for the opportunities available.

Interests

I love being outdoors, and am quite active. Hiking, skiing, climbing, cycling. I love trying new food, even if I don't like it all that much. I always try and learn as much about the history of where I travel before I go, and I love chatting with locals about the current state of wherever. Give me your honest opinion please!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love to read. Tend to bounce all over the place, but lately have been reading a lot about mountaineering stories, food essays, books on the current state of the world and how we got there, and classic American literature, always.

I have always loved music. Started out listening to punk and hardcore in elementary school, and while I still listen to that, have branched out considerably. Love Americana music, indie rock, electronic dance....I can usually find at least one artist in any genre of music that I like and appreciate. Always looking for new, inspiring art.

The written word is my favorite form of art, whether that is literature, prose, song lyrics or just intelligent conversation.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

5 years ago I had one of the most amazing back to back experiences of my life. Within a span of 4 months, I cycled across one continent and then climbed to the top of another.

I rode my bike across the USA with a group called Bike and Build. As we rode, we stopped along the way and built houses for families in need with Habitat for Humanity. 6 weeks after the trip ended, I moved to Tanzania to work in an orphanage. When there, I climbed Kilimanjaro in 2.5 days. It was incredibly challenging, with not much sleep (3-4 hours a night) but absolutely amazing.
